As the saying goes, “marriage is work”. We all know what happens to people when their lives are all work and no play. Especially if their job involves being away from their spouse for long stretches of time. But they don’t have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Savage Love columnist Dan Savage coined a term for open marriages and relationships that involve strict ground rules and respect: monogam-ish. It seems to have worked for Savage and his husband Terry, for over 2 decades.

Therapist Ian Kerner says that it works better if both partners come into the relationship with openness in mind. Bringing it up mid-stream is a sign that maybe the couple isn’t as romantically compatible as they once thought.

There are a variety of reasons why the celebrity couples on this list have tried opening up their marriage. For some, it was an experiment that failed epically and led to the dissolution of their union. For others, they used what they learned from the experience to fortify their relationship and stay together. A few liked it so much that they kept it up.

It’s not always the star that pays the price of fame. Sometimes, when an actor climbs the ladder of success, they have to leave their old lives on the ground. Unfortunately, that can include their non-celebrity spouses. After all, aren’t actors always saying that only other actors can truly understand the lifestyle?

Of course, starter marriages aren’t just for the rich and famous. In this day and age, it’s not at all uncommon for couples in any profession to get divorced. It’s especially prevalent among couples who married young. Not that normalcy makes it any easier on the people who get left behind. It can be harder still if there are children involved.

The celebrities on this list had a variety of reasons for leaving their first loves. At times, they were seduced by the glamor of fame and wanted a shiny new spouse to match. A few felt they could no longer relate to someone who wasn’t in showbiz. Others simply fell in love with their co-stars. But one thing they all have in common is that their divorce just happened to coincide with their success.

16 Stars Who Lost Roles Due To Pregnancy

Though women struggle for equality in every line of work, Hollywood may be one of the most egregious examples of the gender divide. Procreation is a literal fact of life, and yet, pregnancy undeniably effects the type of work actresses are able to land.

There are all sorts of ways a production can hide a pregnancy including wardrobe, and shot angles. TV shows with established characters will often make such concessions for their actresses, or a film will delay production to wait for its lead to give birth. But it’s not uncommon for a producer to make a different call.

When a 1996 jury ruled in favor of pregnant soap actress Hunter Tylo for wrongful termination, the defense attorney had no remorse, saying, “If nothing else, this decision will cause producers to pay even more attention to the wording of their contracts.”

The actresses on this list all lost a role because they decided to bring a new life into the world. No matter how you slice it, it’s never going to be something that a male actor will have to deal with.

ScreenRant List: 16 Times Superheroes Were Careless with Human Lives

superman-and-metropolis-destruction-in-man-of-steelFor a long time, superheroes were universally revered in their respective universes. Evil was afoot, and most folks were just glad someone was there to help them out of their jams. Sure, you’d get the occasional detractor, like J. Jonah Jameson, the newspaper editor who had it in for Spider-Man. But, for the most part, heroes could do no wrong. In fact, they were so good at their jobs that civilian casualties were virtually non-existent. Sure, destruction of property was rampant, but everyone seemed to understand that was all just collateral damage. When a civilian did die, it would be a major plot point and our heroes would be wracked with guilt over it. But in recent years, superheroes have gotten pretty sloppy, and the people are not pleased.

Here are 16 times that our careless crusaders had lapses in judgment, or were just plain oblivious to the safety of the powerless people unfortunate enough to be caught up in their bad guy beefs.
